- Stanley Maynard Dooshnik, Jr.:With A Name Like That, You’d Drink Too! – is a memoir of my life. The only part that is not true is the spelling of my last name, which is spelled phonetically, and the first names of the other characters, to protect them and maintain their anonymity. When I started this project I had two objectives. The first was to “tell my story” in the hope that somebody might say “If he can get sober maybe I can, too.” If I have accomplished that for just one person, it was worth my time and effort. Secondly, I wanted to share my spiritual journey with my fellow travelers. There are many introverts who can fall through the cracks and I wanted to be a voice for them. Dooshnik runs the spectrum from misery, dysfunction and despair to hope, miracles and redemption. It has a broad appeal, not just to drinkers or non-drinkers. It is a story about hope.
